South Houston is a small, close-knit city tucked between Pasadena and Houston, near Hobby Airport and I-45. It was founded as Dumont in 1907 and incorporated as South Houston in 1913, and many of its streets still follow the original grid of lettered avenues and streets named after states.
Homes here are some of the most affordable in the Houston area. Under $250,000 you will mostly find homes built from the late 1940s to the 1970s, in sections like Merilyn Place, South Houston Terrace and Wofford Homesites and along the original state-named streets. Most have 2 or 3 bedrooms and between 1,000 and 1,500 square feet, often on lots with room for a garden or a workshop.
South Houston is served by Pasadena ISD. Because the city is small, there are only about a dozen homes at this price at any time, so it helps to have us watch for new listings for you.
