Almeda

Almeda began in the early 1880s as a townsite on the railroad south of Houston, promoted by Dr. Willis King and named for his daughter, Almeda King, according to the Texas State Historical Association. It had its own post office from 1893 and later became part of Houston. Older homes on larger lots sit alongside new infill houses.

City Park and City Gate

City Park is a 475-acre master-planned community along West Orem Drive between Highway 288 and Almeda Road, beside Sims Bayou, with about 1,500 homes built mostly in the 2000s. Its newer neighbor, City Gate, has homes built in the 2020s.

Cloverland, South Acres and other subdivisions

Cloverland and South Acres Estates are post-war neighborhoods of single-family homes. Other subdivisions in the zip include Brunswick Meadows, Skyview Park, Regal Oaks and Paradise Valley, plus new gated communities such as Fairwoods at Furman.
